With a population of over 160 million, Nigeria is fast becoming a commercial and business hub, with this, the need to extend banking service to cover the entire population is necessary. Across Nigeria, people discover that they need help with their finances to deal with unexpected expenses, however they find that they are ignored by traditional lenders – Banks and other Financial Institutions. The closer we looked at the problem the more we saw an opportunity, and the more we understood the needs and the pressures faced by those who are cash and credit constrained and the more we realized a new, flexible solution was required. We decided to launch a Retail lending service in Lagos and Abuja that people can tailor to their needs and understand the cost upfront. The concept has been well received so far for the past 3 years with customer base in excess of 3,000 across Lagos & Abuja.

Firmus is steadily carving a niche in the market and building a reputation for prompt, quality financial service under our two sister companies – Firmus Retail Services Limited (“FIRSL”) whose target market is to give loans products from N500,000.00 (Five Hundred Thousand Naira) to N2,000,000.00 (Two Million Naira), while Firmus Microfinance Bank (“FirmusMFB”) gives loan products amongst other bouquets of products from N50,000 (Fifty Thousand Naira only) to N500,000 (Five Hundred Thousand Naira only).
A quick survey of the market showed that over 60 million Nigerians are currently unbanked and as such do not make use of financial services, it was to this end that FirmusCapital (“Firmus”) as set up with the vision of being the preferred partner in retail financial services that delivers quick solutions to the underserved customers in Nigeria.
Firmus decided to branch out as a Retail Lending Company in 2018 that caters for the upper end of the Retail Market from N2,000,000.00 (Two Million Naira) to N15,000,000.00 (Fifteen Million Naira).
